Arts In The Park

Arts in the Park focuses on delivering free workshops, performances and projects in and around Cutteslowe Park, with and for the community.

The North Wall is part of the Cutteslowe Community Hub and shares the aim to bridge the gap of social divide through art and shared experience. We believe that everyone should be able to access high quality art and understand that traditional theatre spaces may be a barrier for some new audiences and therefore, we hope to meet new audiences and participants through Arts in the Park.

Unknown Forest | Sept 2021

Unknown Forest is an interactive adventure for families, created by Simon Daw. Audiences received a letter from a girl named Hazel, who explained how she had followed a Nightingale into the forest and lost her way. Along with the letter, audiences were given a booklet of activities and clues that they needed to complete to finish the story and become a Wildlife Protector. Audiences made their way into the Woodlands, following a map and looking out for clues, they were presented with beautiful installations; from a viewing box disguised as a bird’s nest, to a wind up radio under a canopy to a motion sensor audio story placed amongst the trees. School workshops took place inside The Cutteslowe Garden Project and the family wrap around activity was set up on the green in front of The Cutteslowe Garden Project. 240 people took part over 3 days.

Feedback

“We absolutely loved the show, it was wonderful to be able to spend time together as a family, enjoying something fun and cultural outside. Our children were mesmerised throughout, and the activity pack was such a nice touch. We were so grateful that you'd put on this event, and the fact that it was free made it even more special. Thank you!”
