Welcome to The North Wall! This autumn we’re delighted to present some of the most dynamic theatre companies from across the UK, bringing a host of groundbreaking and award-winning shows to Oxford’s most exciting new venue.
September sees the high-octane dance theatre company Precarious, hot from this year’s Edinburgh Festival with a brand new show, The Factory. 1927 offers a dark and twisted cabaret Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea; fusing film and live performance, this show returns to the UK after dazzling audiences around the world.
In October, Analogue, another young company gaining international recognition, presents its highly physical and deeply moving show, Mile End. This is followed by Inspector Sands and Stamping Ground who will take you to the strangest restaurant for the most surreal date you’ve ever been on, with their hilarious show Hysteria. The uncompromising Theatre Absolute, a company which has produced some of the best contemporary drama of the last ten years, presents Zero, Chris O’Connell’s latest play, set in a very near and frightening future.
October also sees folk-rock legends Jerry Donahue and The Gathering, plus an enchanting evening of North Indian music with the acclaimed Neela Bhagwhat. The North Wall’s popular resident orchestra, English Sinfonia, returns with another wonderful concert evening – and a world premiere!
Other theatre events include Liz Rothschild’s one-woman show Another Kind of Silence about the environmentalist Rachel Carson, the Oxford Theatre Guild’s production of Margaret Edson’s award-winning play Wit, and the return of the Tomahawk Theatre Company with a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in December.
And in the Gallery throughout the autumn, we continue to exhibit the best work of local and national artists.
