The Oxford School of Drama

The Hills of California

Written by Jez Butterworth Directed by Jane Jeffery

In a faded guesthouse in Blackpool, four sisters return to the home where their mother once dreamed of turning them into stars. Moving between the 1950s and 1970s, long-buried memories, rivalries and old songs resurface as the Webb family confronts the price of ambition.

The Hills of California, by acclaimed playwright Jez Butterworth, is a gripping, darkly funny and deeply moving story of family, fame and the dreams that shape us.

Performed by nineteen actors from the One Year Course at The Oxford School of Drama, this is a rare chance to see the next generation of exceptional acting talent live on stage.
