Autumn 2025 Season On Sale Now

Welcome to The North Wall’s Autumn Season

This autumn, we’re delighted to be presenting new work by some of our favourite artists and collaborators. Direct from this year’s Edinburgh fringe comes a new play starring Mark Thomas and written by Fringe First award-winning writer Ed Edwards. Ordinary Decent Criminal sees them reunite to tell a tale of freedom, revolution and messy love, set in the years following the Strangeways Prison Riot. Also fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe: four-time Edinburgh comedy award nominee Kieran Hodgson returns with Voice of America, in which he impersonates a bunch of old prospectors and former Presidents. Last seen at The North Wall in 2016 (!), internationally-acclaimed ensemble Theatre Re celebrate 14 years working together in Moments, in which the company open up their precious notebooks and share how their magic works.

Expert immersive theatre-makers Frozen Light are back (following their Spiral House building takeover earlier this year) with The Ancient Oak of Baldor, a multi-sensory experience for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their companions, offering the chance to gather and experience the collective power of shared stories. In the gallery, we’re welcoming back the Society of Wood Engravers and Oxford Printmakers Cooperative with their annual exhibitions – featuring an array of styles and techniques by two groups of talented artists.

There’s plenty to do for families with young children – September sees Tiny Ideas Festival take over arts and cultural venues across the city, with shows by The Wardrobe Ensemble and Tiny and Tall Productions taking place at The North Wall. And if you saw Dogs Don’t Do Ballet last year, then Little Angel Theatre’s adaptation of The Paper Dolls should be at the top of your list.

Comedy fans won’t be disappointed with the line-up of stand-up shows this autumn (including a very special Stand-Up Science night from Jericho Comedy in late October, part of Oxford IF!) And if you’re a folk music aficionado, then don’t miss the return of two stand-out ensembles: Breabach, one of Scotland’s most skilled & imaginative contemporary-folk acts, whose sound is rooted in Highland and Island Gaelic tradition; and Leveret, the highly acclaimed English folk trio renowned for their innovative approach to traditional music, blending consummate musicianship with captivating spontaneity.
