Spare Tyre: Blue Skies

with Solace Women’s Aid

In 2015 Spare Tyre artists worked creatively with a group of women from Solace Women’s Aid. During weekly sessions, the women experimented with process, artforms and subject matter. The project culminated in the women developing their perspectives through the lens of a camera. Collaboratively and independently women explored their surrounding environments producing a final photography show: Blue Skies.

Blue Skies is designed for the women to share their aspirations. We explore what it means to dream, hope, aspire and eventually turn our dreams into reality. The themes – transformation, perspectives, image and imagination, blue skies, revival and reflection – all played a part in aiding growth, and healing. Gently participants emerged as artists, revealing their talents.
