Inspiring People: Jess Thom

Artist, writer, and activist Jess Thom is the co-founder of Touretteshero. Jess has Tourettes syndrome, a neurological condition that means she makes movements and noises she can’t control, called tics. Jess will be in conversation with a member of The North Wall team, discussing how she has turned her tics into art, making theatre accessible, and advocating for change.

We warmly welcome all young people to this talk, including those with tics, Tourette’s syndrome, those who are neurodiverse, those who are D/deaf and those who are wheel chair users. There will be relaxed seating, and should you need to move around or make noise during the talk, feel free to do so.

About Inspiring People

Our flagship Inspiring People series is a joint venture between The North Wall and our principal sponsor, St Edward’s School. We host talks or in-conversation events with speakers who have done brilliant things with their lives and who are renowned in their field. We welcome speakers from a wide range of professions – from art history and neurosurgery, to theatre and environmental science.

We offer free tickets to youth and school groups to promote creative futures, philanthropic attitudes, and open minds. Each event is followed by a Q&A session, giving audiences the opportunity to have their questions answered by the experts.
