Emma Kirkby & Dowland Works

The Consent of Speaking Harmony Songs by John Dowland and John Danyel

The consummate lutenist John Dowland was also a brilliant songwriter and polyphonist and had a mighty influence on his contemporaries. In this programme, Dowland Works celebrate a selection of his work alongside that of John Danyel from his book, Songs to the Lute, Viol and Voice (1606).

Dowland Works was formed in 2013 to mark the 450th anniversary of John Dowland. Alongside one of the world’s leading sopranos, Emma Kirkby, the ensemble brings together young performers and seasoned professionals to explore the rich heritage of lute song and revitalise Early Music performance for a contemporary audience.
