Alex Dewart: The Scale of Things

Alex Dewart’s Fine Art practice encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking, moving image and photography, across a range of both digital and traditional media. She also curates and has researched for Documentary Film.

In these canvases and sketchbooks, she has created floating worlds. Collaged clusters of spheres float above, across and within loose swathes of paint. The scale is ambiguous – are these planetary constellations, microorganisms or maps? What is The Scale of Things?

Created during the lockdown period of Winter 2020/21, the works display her signature use of colour, pattern and varied mark making. Size of the works range from A4 size up to 1.6 x 1.2m.
