SUMMER FESTIVAL 2008
The Festival ran from July 2nd to 12th, and was launched with a gala performance by international violinist Daniel Hope with the English Sinfonia, in a programme that included Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Mozart’s Haffner Symphony. Other highlights in a festival of nearly 30 events were performances by the Bush Theatre, Paines Plough, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Wingates Brass band, and the Edinburgh award-winning comedian Rhod Gilbert (who went on to appear in the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium). The National Student Drama Festival Ensemble was also based at The North Wall throughout the Festival.
