YOUNGSTERS SHOWCASE ART WORK IN CHARITY EXHIBITION
2nd Sep 09
Talented Oxfordshire youngsters are showing entrepreneurial spirit by exhibiting and selling art work made during their A-level studies in the last two years at St Edward’s school. The young artists have decided against leaving finished work languishing in parents’ attics and in portfolios and have instead decided to sell their wares, to collectors and gallery visitors in what is for most of them their first exhibition in a public gallery after leaving school.

The proceeds are to be split between funding gap-year activities, and a charity chosen by the parents of Grace Hadman, a pupil of St Edward’s School, who tragically died earlier this year at the age of 17. Grace was a keen artist, and a limited edition print made from one of her ’Butterfly’ paintings will be one of the items available for sale, all the proceeds of which will be donated to the charity.
The exhibition has been organised by the students themselves and features a wide variety of media, including ceramics, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

Victoria Lloyd Jones, an established artist herself who studied at the Royal Academy Schools and has been on hand to advise the group, says:
’We’re very excited to see the wide variety of media and creative imagination shown by such young people, and this exhibition will mark the start of some promising young artists’ careers. We wanted this exhibition to be a learning experience for young people pursuing careers in visual art, so they have been involved in almost all aspects of the exhibition’s organisation.’
If you’d like to buy a copy of Grace’s print (pictured) call 01865 319 450 to place your order. The print is high quality, fade-proof, and on high quality water colour paper, and costs £50. All proceeds will go to charity.
