Wed 1st - Sat 4th Apr 09
’CRITICS CHOICE’ - Time Out
....In a far off, war-torn land, the Frantz family struggle to tour their latest, greatest production of Snow White. All is not well - the leading lady has eloped with the Prince, they are down to four dwarves and the show starts in five minutes. Frieda is begging to play Snow White, but, thanks to her Dad Otto, she’s staying Grumpy.
Suddenly, Otto’s vision of the perfect Snow White turns up hiding amongst the mothballs; his prayers are answered. But it soon becomes clear that the new Snow White is too good, too clever and, well, just too perfect. As families in the area disappear, soldiers close in and, with their backs against the wall, the Frantz troupe falls into disarray.
Uncompromising, engaging and sharp as a knife, this play by Mike Kenny is more than a fairy tale. Whiter than Snow takes you through dangerous and shifting landscapes rooted in history but told with humour, honesty and attitude.
Suitable for children and adults, this show is being staged as part of the Oxfringe Festival.
