Swiss guitarist Nicolas Meier studied classical guitar under Francis Coletta at the Conservatoire Fribourg and subsequently jazz at the world famous Berklee College. He has a formidable reputation for his work with his own group touring here and throughout Europe with the likes of Elvin Jones, Brad Meldau and Trilok Gurtu.
Nicolas draws on a multitude of influences including Jazz, Flamenco, Latin and Middle Eastern music – all of which are represented in his music and his recordings for the hi-fi record company NAIM. Nick’s wife and muse, Songul, is Turkish and he is constantly being inspired by the textures, melodies and rhythms of Turkey.
3bpm need little introduction to local jazz enthusiasts – Martin Pickett (piano), Paul Jefferies (bass) and Ben Twyford (drums) are one of the county’s premier jazz trios.
